While always competitive, the Boston Marathon hadn't offered any prize money until 1986. With John Hancock's sponsorship, the race was able to offer $30,000 to winners, and $25,000 bonus for a course record. Australian Robert de Castella, or "Deeks" as he was called, won in a course record time of 2:07:51. World record holder Ingrid Kristiansen won the women's race in 2:24:55, taking home $35,000 in prize and bonus money.

Please note that all sales are final, so we encourage you to read descriptions carefully and reach out with any questions before purchasing. Our pieces are true vintage—some are up to 50 years old—and with that age comes character. You may notice small imperfections or signs of wear, which we believe only add to the story and charm of each item.
