Hopkinton has served as the start of the Boston Marathon since 1924. Previously, it had started in Ashland but subsequently the course was found to be only 24.5 miles, as it had been measured using a bike. Just in case there was any remaining confusion, this shirt clearly confirms the route is indeed 26.2 miles.
